BLUE RIDGE MODERN
This residence in Batesville, Virginia is nestled into a hillside of a forty acre site. The volumes, planes and apertures shift relative to one another to mediate light and capture views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The parti consists of two perpendicular bars, organized around a pool and fireplace terrace. Interstitial spaces, such as an outdoor shower and dining terrace, are situated under the roofs of the two volumes, inviting connections between inside and outside. Exterior finishes include weathering steel, western red cedar, and fiber cement siding.
